What the label can realistically tell you.
Blue/white Trefoil and lowercase adidas branding appear across period sportswear. Exact formats vary by country and factory.
Numerous narrow woven/polyester variants; country and garment type matter.
Equipment branding is a strong 1990s design-language clue on relevant performance product.
The Performance logo becomes increasingly prominent in the 1990s and coexists with Trefoil heritage product.
Y2K pieces may use either heritage Trefoil or Performance systems; article/product coding becomes more useful.

A credible date estimate should survive several independent checks. If the neck label and care label disagree, stop and investigate instead of choosing the older answer.

How to list it when the date is not certain
Use wording such as “likely late 1980s / early 1990s based on label and construction” rather than inventing an exact year. Separate confirmed facts from estimates. For valuable branded items, authenticity deserves a separate check from age.
