| Gross profit | Revenue minus direct costs before wider operating expenses. |
| Net profit | What remains after all relevant costs and expenses. |
| Margin | Profit expressed as a percentage of revenue. |
| Markup | Profit expressed relative to item cost. |
| ROI | Return on investment: profit compared with the money invested. |
| Sell-through rate | The share of available stock that sells in a chosen period. |
| SKU | A unique stock keeping unit used to identify one item or product. |
| Dead stock | Inventory that has remained unsold for too long or is unlikely to sell. |
| AOV | Average order value: revenue divided by number of orders. |
| Cross-listing | Listing the same physical stock on more than one marketplace. |
| Write-off | Stock removed from sale because it is lost, damaged or unsellable. |
| Cash flow | Movement of cash into and out of the business. |
| Turnover | Total sales / business income before expenses; tax definitions can be specific. |
| Trading allowance | A UK tax allowance that can apply to qualifying trading or miscellaneous income. |
| Final value fee | A marketplace fee charged when an item sells, commonly used by eBay business selling. |
| Payment processing fee | A charge for processing a buyer payment. |
| Regulatory operating fee | An additional platform fee used by some marketplaces in certain countries. |
| Offsite Ads | Etsy advertising that can attract a fee when a sale is attributed to an off-platform ad. |
